I loved to photograph the moody and romantic wedding of Katharina & Mark in Franconia, the heart of Bavaria in the south of Germany. They are two outstanding souls, living their life and created their dream wedding with the combination of a whimsical and ethereal but timeless spirit. The location they choose was an old mill, built in the 18th century and had been transformed into a modern wedding venue, but still keeping the charm of the old days with the huge gothic arches and natural, visible stone walls. They put their personal touch into the location with showcasing pictures of their ancestors in vintage frames and having colorful crystal wine glasses which every guest could take home as memory to their wedding day. The brass chandeliers, linen tablecloth and lace details completed this wedding setups look, so that they were able to celebrate and enjoy their wedding day to the fullest.
Their ceremony took place at St. Margaretha, a gothic church built in the 11th century and renovated and combined with protestant baroque in the 18th century. A true piece of history and the perfect location to tie the knot of two wonderful souls.
The details of the gothic wedding venue were just stunningly beautiful. The gothic arches surrounding the walls and creating this homage to passed days and allowing a setting for the celebration of the love from Katharina & Mark and their wedding guests.
